Top Ten Seniors 2005
Loyola’s Center for Student Leadership Development announced the Top 10 Seniors for 2005 in April. The awards honor select Loyola seniors who have exhibited excellence in both academic and student life endeavors .Recipients were given an award plaque at the 23rd annual Student Leadership Banquet, April 27, and a commemorative university seal medallion, worn during the May 14 commencement.

Jeffrey Barker, marketing and management major from Klamath Falls, Oregon, is president of Delta Sigma Pi professional business fraternity and a peer mentor coordinator for the College of Business Administration. He has served as a volunteer for Junior Achievement, Ronald McDonald House,and Dog Day in the Park for the SPCA. Jeffrey served on the College of Business Administration’s curriculum review committee and was a case team member for the American Marketing Association. He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Alpha Sigma Nu, and completed the emerging leader program in the Center for Student Leadership Development. | |

Charles Ezeb, drama/communications and Japanese studies major from New Orleans, Louisiana, is senior resident assistant for residential life in Biever and Cabra residence halls.He was a member of the Loyola cross country team during his freshman year and was treasurer and historian of Alpha Psi Omega honorary drama fraternity. He was elected president of the Cabra Residence Hall Council and served as adviser to the Biever Hall Residence Council. Charles has been on the dean’s list, named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges,and received the residential life award for outstanding service as a resident assistant. | |

Crystal Guidry, political science major from Kenner, Louisiana, is president of the Loyola Ambassadors, president/captain of the dance team, and president of Pi Sigma Alpha political science honors society. She served as a new student orientation leader and chair of the Pack Pride Committee. A member of Gamma Phi Beta who served as its financial vice president, Crystal received a 1540 scholarship, and was a Top10 Ambassador and Emerging Leader. During her service as captain, the dance team has won a number of regional and national awards. She had served as an intern for then-Congressman David Vitter of Louisiana and in the campaign office of former state representative Steve Scalise. | |

Mary C. Hayes, psychology major from St. Louis,Missouri, is president of Big Brothers/Big Sisters and College of Arts and Sciences representative for Student Government Association (SGA). Last summer Mary interned in the office of United States Senator Chuck Hagel in Washington, D.C. She has planned the most recent SGA Wolves on the Prowl and Kid’s Day for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. A member of honor fraternities Psi Chi and Phi Eta Sigma, Mary is also a member of Theta Phi Alpha and was its Panhellenic delegate. She has been on the dean’s list for all semesters and was named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. | |

Tara Michelle Hinds, music therapy major from Kenner, Louisiana, is associate chair for the Loyola University Community Action Program(LUCAP). She served as College of Music president and congressperson for Student Government Association. She is president of the Loyola Music Therapy Club and a member of Sigma Alpha Iota international women’s music fraternity. Tara volunteered as vocal/acting coach for the Jefferson Performing Arts Society Summer Youth Theater Workshops, counselor/music specialist for St.Martin’s Episcopal Summer Camp, tutor for at-risk children for Big Brother/Big Sisters, and was a student mentor for incoming music freshmen. | |

Marlee Miller, political science major from Lafayette, Louisiana, is a new student orientation leader and peer assistant for incoming freshmen. She is a member of Theta Phi Alpha and served as vice president of programming for the Panhellenic council and recruitment chair for her sorority. She has volunteered at the Magnolia School and the Battered Women’s Shelter. Marlee was a summer intern for Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and plans a career in law. She is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Honors Society and Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and was named a Loyola academic scholar and to the dean’s list for all semesters. | |

Martina Mills, communications major from Lafayette, Louisiana, is president of Student Government Association. She has served as student representative to the Loyola University Board of Trustees, member of the University Budget Committee, University Planning Team, and Service Learning Committee. She was a new student orientation leader, chair of the Pack Pride Committee,and founder of the Freshman Council. She has organized an auction and concert that raised $2,000 for tsunami relief and worked with a group to create Loyola’s Office of Intercultural Understanding. Martina has volunteered through Wolves on the Prowl and at the Methodist Children’s Home and Habitat for Humanity. She received the 2005 Martin Luther King, Jr., Community Service Award. | |

Paige Patriarca, management and marketing major from Birmingham, Alabama, has served as president of the Student Alumni Association for two years. As chartering president of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, she drafted its first constitution. She is a member of Alpha Chi Omega and served as vice president for communications. Paige was a Panhellenic counselor for National Panhellenic Council and was a Loyola Student Ambassador. She volunteered at the New Orleans Audubon Institute, Voodoo Musicfest, and Battered Women’s Shelter. She is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu and Phi Eta Sigma, and is an Awakening community member. She served Student Government Association as a business representative and as a justice on the court of review. | |

Katherine Stephens, Catholic studies major from Tampa, Florida, is a senior resident assistant in Carrollton Hall. She has served as president of the Catholic student organization COMPASS for the past two years. She is a member of Delta Gamma sorority and Alpha Sigma Nu. Katherine has volunteered as a mentor for the Pregnancy Plus Medical-Catholic Charities in Tampa Bay, literacy tutor for the Renaissance Readers Tutoring program, for Habitat for Humanity, and for Wolves on the Prowl. She has developed a campus-wide speakers’program that included a Roe vs. Wade forum and a symposium on bioethics. She was named to Who’sWho Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and to the dean’s list. | |

Christina Ung, drama/communications major from Houston, Texas, is active in residential life serving as senior resident assistant for Buddig Hall. She has been cast in main and studio roles in Department of Drama and Speech productions for the past three years. Her most distinguishing role was in Camwood on the Leaves, attended by its Nobel Prize-winning playwright, Wole Soyinka.Christina is a member of Alpha Psi Omega drama honor fraternity and the Ad Club. She was name done of the American Advertising Federation’s Most Promising Minority Students and, as part of a student advertising team, developed the winning campaign for Each One Save One, a New Orleans youth mentoring organization. |
