Fr.
William Farge S.J.- COMPASS Faculty Advisor

Fr.
William J. Farge, S.J. is a Jesuit priest of the New Orleans Province
of the Society of Jesus. He graduated from Strake Jesuit College
Preparatory in Houston, TX in 1965 and entered the Jesuit Novitiate
at Grand Coteau, LA. After completing philosophy studies at Loyola
University New Orleans, he was assigned to Japan in 1971. On completion
of the intensive Japanese language program at the Jesuit Language
School in Kamakura, he was assigned to teach English and religion
at the Jesuit high school in Hiroshima. He did his theology studies
at Sophia University, Tokyo and was ordained in Tokyo in 1978. After
ordination he taught English and religion for twelve years at the
Jesuit high school in Kobe and returned to the U.S. in 1991. He
finished his Ph.D. in Japanese at Indiana University in 1997 and
is presently teaching Japanese language and culture in the Modern
Foreign Language Department of Loyola University New Orleans. He
is the moderator of COMPASS at Loyola.
