Candidates for a juris doctor degree should wear their tassels on the left throughout the ceremony.

After the processional, upon entering their designated rows, candidates should remain standing until all candidates, faculty, and staff have taken their places. The order of proceedings will be printed in the commencement program. The presentation of degrees will be administered by the dean and associate dean who will instruct candidates to rise at the appropriate time. Presiding marshals will direct candidates to proceed from their seats to the stage. As each name is called, the candidates will proceed to center stage and receive their diploma covers Dean Madeleine Landrieu and University President Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J. After receiving their diploma covers, candidates should return to their seats. The event is scheduled to last approximately 90 minutes.
