
On Thursday, September 29, award-winning poet and critical essayist, Jesús J. Barquet presented his book Ediciones El Puente en La Habana de los años 60 - an anthology of previously inaccessible poetry and writings by renowned Cuban writers who came about in the 1960s cultural repression of post-Revolution Cuba. Dr. Barquet is a professor of Hispanic Literature at New Mexico State University.
Barquet is a native of Cuba who moved to New Orleans in 1980 where he studied and taught at Tulane before joining the Loyola faculty as a visiting professor in 1989. He moved to Las Cruces, N.M., in 1991 to teach at New Mexico State University where he still works as a professor of Hispanic literature. Barquet has published numerous critical essays and works of poetry.
