Center for Faculty Innovation

The Center for Faculty Innovation promotes new modes of teaching, scholarship, and creative work that foster an integrated curriculum and more meaningful student learning. The Center nurtures connections among faculty as learners, teachers, scholars, and creative artists and supports the intellectual life of the Loyola community within the context of our unique Jesuit mission and identity. 

The center supports faculty development via:

  • Workshops on pedagogy, teaching with technology, service learning, Jesuit mission, and other topics
  • A New Faculty Seminar
  • A Faculty Mentoring Program
  • A Faculty Academy on best practices in teaching and learning
  • A teaching and learning resource library
  • Mini-grants to support innovative teaching, scholarship, and creative work
  • Faculty research groups
  • One-on-one consulting

University-wide initiatives and areas of long-term enhancement

The Center for Faculty Innovation supports the university’s commitment to pedagogical enhancement in key areas. Seminars and workshops throughout the year are offered to encourage faculty development in these areas. CFI staff are available to consult with individuals, departments, and interdisciplinary teams seeking grants in these enhancement areas.

Meeting Space

The Center conference room, with state of the art projection equipment, is available for faculty lunches, discussion meetings on teaching and learning, research group activities, and other meetings.

Partnerships

The Center works collaboratively with the Monroe Library, Writing Across the Curriculum, and other divisions on campus offering faculty development, training, and support.
