Our Mission
The Catholic Studies Program at Loyola University New Orleans offers an interdisciplinary minor for any student who desires to learn about the Catholic faith tradition and its myriad cultural and social manifestations. Richly faceted, Catholicism is a living tradition of faith and witness that can be exploited through its history, doctrines and theologies, philosophies, artistic expressions, literature, devotional life, and sacramental practices. Catholicism has many dimensions. It is a religious institution, a social force, a creator and shaper of culture, and a way of approaching God. The Catholic Studies Program is designed to offer the students a coherent and multi-disciplinary approach to the study of the global Catholic community and its living tradition. Indeed this tradition is the basic inspiration for Loyola University New Orleans.
Nothing is more practical than finding God, that is, than falling in love in a quite absolute, final way.
What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you will do with your evenings, how you will spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude.
Fall in love, stay in love and it will decide everything.
