Not only are the decorations in the Danna Center fresh
and exciting, but the Career Development Center is also
with new staff members and staff members with new positions.
Tamara Baker is the new associate
director of career planning. Tamara serves as the center’s
liaison to the College of Humanities and Natural Sciences.
She brings a wealth of experience from her six years
at the Michelin Career Center at Clemson University.
She holds certification as a Career Development Facilitator,
a master of science in counselor education from the
University of South Alabama, as well as a bachelor of
science in biological science from Grambling University.
Her hometown is Opelousas, LA, so she is excited to
return to Louisiana to eat some good food and be close
to her family.
Brian Creel is our new manager of
recruiting services. He works closely with launching
the new online recruiting tool, EMPLOYOLA, as well as
assisting employers with recruiting at Loyola. Brian
received a promotion from administrative assistant of
the center this summer; he served in that role for two
years and started with the center as an intern. He is
a Loyola alumnus with a bachelor of arts in sociology.
Also receiving a promotion this year is Lauren
Navarro, current Loyola student working toward
her bachelor of arts in advertising. Already Lauren
has been instrumental in the redesign of the Center’s
informational handouts and marketing pieces. For the
last two years, Lauren has been our work-study student.
Jonette Brown is our new office manager.
She will welcome you to the center, help you schedule
an appointment with a career coach, and assist you with
access to our services. Prior to joining the team at
Loyola, Jonette was a legal secretary to senior partner,
Raymond Areaux, in the law firm of Carver, Darden, Koretzky,
Tessier, Finn, Blossman, and Areaux, LLC., specializing
in intellectual property. Additionally, she worked at
Tulane Medical School for 15 years until Hurricane Katrina.
Jonette earned a bachelor of arts in organizational
information technology from Tulane University and is
