The
Career Development Center's Website
CareerShift – Networking and Research
Tool
The job posting on the website asks you
to upload your resume through its electronic application
system. It offers no contact name or title. It's impersonal.
It's a blackhole you'll never climb out of. What if
there were a way to identify the name and title, and
maybe even the e-mail address of someone inside that
company, to whom you could address a cover letter and
resume?
The Career Development Center has added
a new resource to your job search arsenal - CareerShift
- that can do just that. Through this resource, which
uses cutting-edge technology to search through public
information throughout the Internet, you can search
by company, name, or even university and industry to
locate a person or persons to whom you can reach out
to. Send an email asking for industry information and
trends. Request an informational interview. Let them
know you've applied online and ask for recommendations
for getting your resume seen. Or better yet, make an
appointment with a career coach in the Career Development
Center to discuss a comprehensive campaign using CareerShift
that supports your career search.
