It's that time of year again!
Parades, parties, crawfish boils.

It's also time for the annual
Mardi Gras Invitational Career Fair!

February 19, 2008
1:00 to 6:00 p.m.
New Orleans Hilton Riverside Hotel

This is the Endymion of career fairs.

This fair brings in well-known and respected employers from New Orleans and across the country. These employers are looking for college students from ALL majors for internship and full-time positions. So far, close to 110 employers have signed up. They want to hire you!

Make sure you are prepared for this career fair by planning ahead.

Pick out your business suit. Professional dress is critical!

Get your resume ready. Employers will be doing interviews the day of the career fair and the following day. To help facilitate this, we will be collecting resumes and forwarding them to participating companies prior to the fair.

Do you want your resume to be included? It will increase your chances of getting one of those interviews! If so, upload your resume into PackTRAK before February 8, 2008.

If you are not registered in PackTRAK, go to the Career Development Center's homepage at http://www.loyno.edu/careerservices/ to get started.

Once there, click on the register button inside of the PackTRAK symbol.

Once you have registered, log into your account, (for students already registered in PackTRAK follow the directions from here on) and click on Your PackTRAK Resumes.

Under Upload the Following, select Resumes.

To upload Resume:
1. Please check the box indicating your agreement to the release terms.
2. Give your resume a name. ex.: LAN 01/08
3. Under Assign Categories, scroll down and highlight MGI 2008.
4. Click Browse to search for your resume. Click upload to insert.
5. Click Upload Your Resume.

Review Resume:
If your resume looks correct, click Save Resume.

Resume Search Status:
Select the option 1 if you would like employers to see your resume on PackTRAK in addition to the Career Development Center. If not, select option 2. Please do not select option 3. When done, click Update Your Status.

Your resume will automatically be registered for the Mardi Gras Invitational 2008 employer resume book.

ORGANIZATION: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Louisiana

JOB TITLE: Outreach and Service Delivery Specialist

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for a special person to help them serve children and families in the greater New Orleans and Baton Rouge communities. The incumbent will successfully make contacts with local social service providers, schools, individuals, churches, and groups within churches, etc. in order to develop relationships that will result in greater community support and increase the number of volunteers, children, and partners involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of SELA programs. This includes working with new and current matches to provide positive impact for youth, develop a synergy with current matches to bring more volunteers into Big Brothers Big Sisters and create a web of influence and partnership contacts while developing a strong sense of affiliation with Big Brothers Big Sisters of SELA.

JOB TITLE: Event Intern

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Since this is a small film festival, you will be offered the chance to be an integral part of an exciting and growing project, and to learn many aspects of the process of putting together a large and multi-faceted arts event. Tasks will include corresponding with filmmakers, communicating with festival sponsors, coordinating events during the festival, contacting media, and other aspects of the logistical work of the festival. Candidates should be passionate about art and social justice.

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION: The New Orleans International Human Rights Film Festival is dedicated to nurturing its city's human rights community, supporting the work of local social justice organizers and organizations, and linking local and international struggles. ORGANIZATION: Touro Infirmary

JOB TITLES: Junior Volunteer Program Intern

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The highly motivated and energetic intern will work on planning and coordinating two high school programs. From the beginning of March until the end of July, this intern will work on the planning and implementation of the Junior Volunteer program and the hospital’s first Nursing/Allied Health Career Camp. The Junior Volunteer program places students, ages 14-17, in various hospital departments, where they assist patients, visitors and staff. The Nursing/Allied Health Career Camp introduces students, ages 16-17, to careers in these fields through educational and shadowing opportunities.
Applicants MUST like working with young people and be staying in the area over the summer.

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION: Founded in 1852, Touro Infirmary is New Orleans' only community based, not-for-profit faith-based hospital. In 1923, Touro was one of only fifteen hospitals in the country approved to use insulin to treat diabetes. Every Tuesday and Wednesday during the academic year, the Career Development Center will host a series of career workshops about various career issues.

Tuesday workshops are at 12:30 p.m.
Wednesday workshops are at 3:30 p.m.
