Development Center Launches New Website
By: Tracie Donnell
Office Manager, Career Development Center
The Career Development Center is kicking
off the New Year with a redesigned and improved website,
which launched on January 5, 2009. The website is a
combined effort of members of the Career Development
Center staff and the University Web Team. The design
is based on a template used by Career Services at the
College of Law in order to give a consistent look and
presence between the two career centers.
"This new tool exemplifies the CDC's
commitment to bring career planning tools and resources
to the Loyola community wherever its members live and
whenever they need access to our programs and services,"
says Roberta Kaskel, Director of Career Development.
The new Career Development site offers
an array of services to benefit the Loyola community.
Using the best technology available, the Career Development
Center has invested in a number of online career development
tools to make career planning and job searching as convenient
as possible. Among these is EMPLOYOLA, the trademarked
career development networking tool exclusive to Loyola
University. Students can also create resumes online
using Optimal Resume, navigate through the career development
process with Career Beam, or connect with Loyola alumni
nationwide with Career Shift. In addition, career handouts
on a variety of topics available in the Career Development
Center in hard copy are now online in PDF format. The
site also has a wealth of information available about
everything from how to dress for an interview to how
to search for jobs in other countries. Students will
also find it easy to keep up-to-date with sponsored
events, jobs, and internships simply by visiting the
home page.
"The Career Development team is really
excited to launch this new website," says Kaskel.
"We look forward to everyone fully using all its
resources."
