When employers are asked to rate the importance of experience, they rate relevant work experience and internship experience the same followed by any work experience.

60% of new hires in the US last year had some internship experience.

Recruiters that hire new graduates rate internship programs as the best way to recruit gradutes.

Nearly half of employers indicate that they offer a higher starting salary to candidates with internship experience. Upon average those with internship experience were offered 5.4% more.

On the most recent Loyola Senior Exit Survey:

86% of graduates who completed an internship indicated that the experience had influenced their career plans

32% of graduates who completed an internship indicated that the experience was a factor in securing their current position (39% of those had interned for their current employer)
