Sister Terri Bednarz, R.S.M. will be the speaker at the Religious Studies Department's Fall Yamauchi Lecture in Religion. The lecture will be held on Sunday, November15 at 7:30 p.m. in Miller Hall 114. The title of the talk will be "Too Proud to Dig? Peasant Humor in the Parables of Jesus (Luke 16: 1-14.)"
Sister Terri is assistant professor of New Testament in the Religious Studies Department and received her Ph.D. at Brite Divinity School of Texas Christian University. Her research interests include the social and cultural context of the early Christian world and early Christian literature. Currently, she focuses on humor forms and functions in the Roman world and its relevance for understanding agnostic accounts in the Christian Bible. Her studies of Roman and Christian antiquity have included research trips to Malta, Tunisia, Greece, Palestine, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Rome and Turkey.
