Each year New Orleans Bread for the World recognizes an individual for his or her extraordinary contribution towards ending poverty and hunger in New Orleans with its Lindy Boggs Hunger Awareness Award. The recipient for 2000 was the Honorable Moon Landrieu. Landrieu served as Secretary of HUD under President Carter, mayor of New Orleans and Judge, Court of Appeal Fourth Circuit. He is the father of U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu.
