Hazel Parker earned an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education and a M.Ed. in Developmental Reading with a Reading Specialist certificate, both from the College of New Jersey. She is a doctoral candidate at the University of New Orleans pursuing a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in Urban Studies. Hazel has worked in the field of education for more than 20 years in various capacities including a classroom teacher, trainer, professor, curriculum writer and managing several national research projects and initiatives.
Her role with The Lindy Boggs National Center for Community Literacy is to provide professional development and trainings to organizations and individuals who are working to improve the literacy skills of others. Hazel also assists organizations with the writing of documents to ensure it is written in Plain Language and is appropriate from a literacy perspective.
