Michael Skehan

Michael Skehan is a 1976 graduate of Loyola University with a BA in Communications. In 1975, he began working as a news cameraman and editor for WWL-TV.  In 1979, he returned to his hometown, Washington DC, to begin work at WRC-TV, an NBC O&O station,  as a cameraman, editor, and engineer.

In 1981, Michael formed the first of several business ventures and began a contract with an international news network, Independent Television News of London (ITN). He traveled the world covering major events for ITN, including: US Presidential elections, the funeral of Bob Marley, Queen Elizabeth’s North American tour, the Reagan-Gorbachev summits, Manuel Noriega’s inauguration, and many notable world events.

Over the next 20+ years, Michael’s company, Skehan Communications, expanded into mobile satellite transmission, remote production services, specialized engineering projects and more. Their clients included broadcast networks, Fortune 500 companies, the White House, and others.

In mid-2005, Michael became the Divisional Head of Broadcast & Engineering for the Angel Christian Television Trust, owner of the GOD TV global network. For the next  6 years he supervised the technical operations of facilities in Jerusalem,  Washington DC, Plymouth England, and Kansas City. He also advised on projects in South Africa, Kenya, and the UK.

In 2012, as GOD TV moved their DC operations elsewhere, Skehan Communications LLC was resurrected as a full-time production company. The company’s recent clients include NASA-TV, the Horatio Alger Foundation, the US Chamber of Commerce, Canadian Broadcasting Corp., Al Jazeera Int’l., CBS, NBC, US Conference of Catholic Bishops, Eternal Word Television, US Department of Defense, Howard University, George Mason University, Bank of America, ESPN, and many others.

Michael has been the recipient of many professional awards over his 40+ years in the business, including New Orleans Press Club Awards in 1977 & ‘78, for feature and deadline photography

Michael is a member of the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers, and the Society of Broadcast Engineers. He is also a member of The Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. In recognition of his many decades of broadcast work, he was inducted into the NATAS Silver Circle in 2014.
