Michie Bissell

Michie Bissell is a 1964 graduate of the Loyola University New Orleans College of Dental Hygiene and Loyola Abroad program at Universidad de Iberia Americano in Mexico City. Her career experience includes nearly 30 years as a dental hygienist as well as service as a community affairs specialist for the Regional Transit Authority of New Orleans.

An active volunteer, Ms. Bissell serves as the commander of the Grand Commandry of the South, the Military and Hospitalier Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem; board president of the St. Jude Community Center; outgoing president of the Southern Dominican Province Advisory Board; and member of the parish council of Our Lady of Guadeloupe Catholic Church.

She has also volunteered for 10 years on the Trinity Episcopal Church Medical Mission to Honduras and Nicaragua, as well as served as the tri-parish chairman of the American Cancer Society, a board member of the Leukemia Society, co-founder and president of the Vendome Place Private Patrol, member of the St. Martin’s Episcopal School Booster Club, a football and softball coach at the Jewish Community Center and Holy Name of Jesus School, president and board member of Holy Name of Jesus Parents’ Club, president and board member of the Lower Quarter Crime Watch, and chairman and board member of the Human Relations Commission of the City of New Orleans.

She is currently a member of the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Patio Planters and the city, state and national Dental Hygiene Associations.
