  ADVANCED CAMP

Fort Lewis, WA

 What is it?

Each year, thousands of cadets from all over the nation travel to Ft. Lewis, Washington to attend ROTC Advanced Camp. This camp exists to enhance and evaluate cadet leadership potential. This is the culminating event in the ROTC training program.  ROTC Advanced Camp training serves two purposes:

                            Train Cadets
                            Evaluate Leadership Potential

This is accomplished through a variety of training events, field exercises, and garrison living. Some of the training events are:

Land Navigation Basic Rifle Marksmanship Weapons Familiarization
Army Branch Orientation Squad Training Exercise Platoon Training Exercise

What do you need to prepare for Camp?

Physical Training (PT)

The easiest way to ensure success at Camp is to show up in shape with a positive attitude. Every cadet should design a personal training program designed to achieve the following goals:

Increase physical endurance Increase overall strength Prevent injuries

Refer to FM 21-20 when designing your PT program.  By starting a dedicated program at the beginning of the school year and gradually increasing performance levels, you will have no problems at Camp.

Grades

The most important thing every cadet should concentrate on (from freshman year to the end of senior year) is keeping a high academic grade point average (GPA).  ROTC cadets are students first. GOOD LUCK TO OUR FUTURE OFFICERS
You will gain confidence in your abilities.  Advanced Camp participation will enhance your leadership skills.  You will receive a first hand look at military life in the United States Army--taking those first important steps in service to our nation..
