  1. Why did you choose Loyola?

I chose Loyola because it was a Catholic University and that is important to me but also because of the opportunities that it provided. I would be away from home, away from anyone who knew me in high school and I got to decide who I was to become, what I wanted to get involved in and how I wanted to use my talents.

  1. If you could give one piece of advice to a prospective student about the college application process what would it be?

Apply everywhere you can. Some high schools will pay the application fee and most colleges will waive it if you need them too. College is a huge decision that will shape not only your education and career but also who you meet and what kind of friends you have. However, don’t get too worked up about it. I’m convinced that we all end up where we are meant

  1. What’s the best thing about Loyola University?  Why?

My favorite thing about Loyola is the way your experience is totally up to you. If you challenge yourself academically there are few places where the professors will take such an interest in you to help you succeed. Loyola is teeming with campus life of all sorts and, of course, New Orleans is our playground. The culture of Loyola reflects the beauty, diversity, and quirkiness of the city itself. It really is a part of the city.

  1. What’s the best thing about living in New Orleans?

My favorite thing about New Orleans has to be to be the food. New Orleans food is its own special level of awesome. Not just the local specialties either. Every restaurant, every little stand, knows it’s in New Orleans and knows that to succeed they have to provide amazing food. There is always something delicious available to you whether you’re just waking up and in the mood for a breakfast crepe from Crepes a La Carte, or it’s four in the morning and you need a cup of coffee from Zot’s to help you study.

  1. Where is your favorite place on campus or in New Orleans?  Why?

This is going to sound like I’m getting paid to say this but I love the library. I have spent countless hours there both studying diligently till the early hours of the morning, and “studying” with friends and making plans for the weekend. It’s the perfect example of how Loyola is what you make of it. It unlocks all the doors and lets you decide what you want to do there. It’s a comfortable place to study and great place to meet up with friends.

  1. What is your favorite Loyola or New Orleans event? Why?

Well outside of the craziness around the Saints I have to say I love Loyola’s “Sneaux” event. Running around the horseshoe having snowball fights and playing pranks is always a memorable experience and one that is unique in the city. It is a great time to just be goofy and wear the winter gear you normally wouldn’t drag out of the closest in a warm city like New Orleans.
