Transfer Students

A transfer applicant is a high school graduate or GED recipient who has completed 12 or more transferable semester hours of college-level work. Admission to Loyola as a transfer student is competitive. To be considered for undergraduate admission, a transfer student must:

  1. complete and submit an Application for Admission.
  2. submit to the Office of Admissions two official copies of transcripts from each college or university attended. These should be sent as soon as possible. Upon completion of the current semester, send a follow-up transcript. The high school transcript is required if the applicant has less than 30 hours of transfer work.
  3. have a letter of recommendation written by a teacher, counselor or employer.
  4. compose a personal statement of 300 words or less detailing your reasons for wishing to transfer to Loyola and what factors influenced your choice to apply. Please note that this essay will be used as an important document in scholarship consideration."
  5. submit a résumé displaying significant community involvement and demonstrated leadership abilities.

Transfer Scholarships

All transfer students interested in competing for academic scholarships must:

  1. submit an application for admission and all supporting documents to Loyola University by March 1 priority deadline (April 15 regular deadline).
  2. have a minimum cumulative 3.2 grade point average on a 4-point scale in academic subjects, as calculated by the Loyola Office of Admissions.
  3. file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
