While working as a tutor at Loyola’s Intensive English Program, I became friends with Louis Jean Baudean. Everyone called him L.J. L.J. was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and a Loyola alumnus. We used to meet for breakfast on Sundays at the Pontchartrain Hotel, where he would share accounts of his wartime service. L.J. is gone now, and I wish I had recorded his stories, but I am glad I had the chance to get to know him as a result of attending Loyola University.
