Grace King House
Born in New Orleans in 1852, Grace Elizabeth King was one of the best known literary figures from New
Orleans. Memories of a Southern Woman of Letters, written by
Grace King and published after her death in 1932, gave us a portrait of women
who went through the Civil War and its aftermath having to shed the role of
sheltered wife and mother, adopting the new role of bread winner and independent
person.
This home was a meeting place for artists and writers in the early 1900's.
