Biology Core Course
Course Description:
Students investigate cell structure and function using the methods of molecular and cellular biology. An investigative approach is used, emphasizing student designed experiments, data collection and analysis, oral and written presentation and use of the scientific literature. Students receive hands-on experiences in a number of standard cell and molecular procedures including microscopy, DNA isolation, gel electrophoresis, chromatography, spectrophotometry, cell fractionation, PCR and protein assays. Pre-requisite: BIOL A106, A108, A109, Co-requisite: BIOL A206.
Course Structure:
2 credits, with 3 hours lab and 1 hour recitation.
