The Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Loyola University New Orleans is an officially chartered student organization where current Loyola undergraduate and graduate students visit local elementary school students once a week. The goal of this program is for Loyola students to become effective positive role models whom elementary school students can admire, trust, and respect. During this one hour a week commitment, Loyola students will mentor their elementary students, assisting them in their school work, play games with them, and help guide them through the challenges of life. It is an unique one-on-one relationship where the elementary student gains individual attention. This program is designed to positively impact the lives of local elementary students and Loyola students. Both groups of students will gain a higher degree of self esteem, learn valuable life lessons from each other, learn how to foster new relationships, and share an experience that will last a lifetime. The rewards of this program are priceless.

“A Hundred years from now nobody will remember
who I was, what I did or how much money I had;
But the world may be a little different and a little better
because I was important in the life of a child.”
