The Medieval Period in Russia is defined as 600 to 1689 C. E.  It seems very common when thinking of the Middle Ages to have Western Europe come to mind; however, as these three web sites illustrate, the Middle Ages occurred in Russia and Eastern Europe as well.

Welcome to the Russian Knowledge Page
http://www.sit.wisc.edu/~jdmiller2/knowledge/main.html

- Contains a link to a site pointing out where artifacts of this period can be found in two museums

- Contains a link to a site on icons fo the Lord and Blessed Mother (12th century) - excellent site with pictures

-  Contains a link to a site describing the Vikings of Russia circa 859 C. E. - also here will be a section dealing with the Age of
Christianity, 945 C. E.

- The Chronology of Russian History link is also very well put together.

Medieval Russian Clothing
http://www.sit.wisc.edu/~jdmiller2/knowledge/clothing.html

- Excellent patterns and directions to actually construct medieval Russian clothing

- Also will find Russian folk tales about women's roles at this time

- In addition, there is a very informative section on medieval Russian names

- Also a link to a site that tells us there were no real medieval castles in Russia

This third website gives an outline of a 16th century Russian wedding including the ceremony itself, courtship, the dowry, and formal acceptance, etc.
